A Slovak jersey with a bat at heart: how we fought at the 2026 European Championship in Prague
Bats players made up 85 % of the Slovak team at the European Box Lacrosse Championship. This is how we fought against the best in Europe.
The European Box Lacrosse Championship (EBLC 2026) in Prague was a huge celebration for the whole Slovak lacrosse community and an especially proud moment for Bratislava Bats.
Look at the Slovak roster and you will see familiar faces. Bats players made up 85 % of the national team. The Bats core was the backbone of Slovakia at the European Championship, where we left our hearts and our last ounce of energy on the floor.
Performances worth it
Few people realise how demanding international box lacrosse is: fast play in both directions, hard battles and a huge pace. Our team showed incredible fighting spirit.
- Goalies under fire. Our goalies showed once again that they belong among the best. They faced Europe’s top shooters and kept the team in the game with several incredible saves, even against the favourites.
- Experienced leaders. Bats leaders carried the team in key moments, whether on the power play or on defence, where they took an incredible number of hits.
- Young guns on the national team. For several younger guys it was their first big international experience. They were not scared of the arena, collected points and assists and showed that Slovak lacrosse has a bright future.
Results and standings are one thing, but the experience and team bond we brought home from Prague are priceless. Representing your country at an event like this is the greatest honour for each of us.
The road to the national team goes through our club.
